#Help101: I've Started Wearing Makeup!

Hello, my awesome and lovely readers! Thank you so much for the support in the last few days- You guys are the epitome of amazing, and I can't stop reading through all the lovely comments you've left! I swear I've been smiling non stop :-).

However, today I'm asking for a little bit of help. I have just started wearing make up, and I can't figure out how to use it properly! Like, this morning I poked myself in the eye with my mascara wand, so now my eye is quite sore and bloodshot. Bottom line-I've never worn make up before, mainly because I was never the kind of girl to. If the old me and the new me were completely different people, I wouldn't even recognise who I am now!

I've tried watching a few videos, and whilst some have helped, others haven't. Most of them haven't, in fact.

So if you could leave some comments below about how to actually use the stuff, I'll be really grateful. Mainly I wear eyeshadow, tinted lipgloss and mascara (when I'm not poking myself with it in the eye!) but if you have any advice, I'll be eternally grateful.

Also, I'll be going AWOL next week, as I'm going down to the beach, in a place called Sandy Point. It sounds amazing and I'm really excited! However, I'm completely unplugging for the week-no phone, laptop, Ipad or anything! I've been on the computer overtime at the mo, and I feel that this is really important because I do need to downgrade the time I spend on the computer. This will mean that the daily posts stop, however.

So, see you all next week, and remember to post those tips below!!

  1. Hi Amelie! I hope you have a great time :)
Tips: I would suggest finding a good cruelty free brand (google for them) which you like, and get a mascara and BB cream and foundation brush. I'm actually doing a makeup tutorial on my blog soon, so read that for the BB cream. As for mascara, get excess mascara off the brush, and put the brush horizonatal, and move the brush side to side. Do the bottom lashes as well. Hopefully this helps; I'd suggest don't wear too much makeup on your face because younger skin doesn't need it! x

    1. Thank you for the advice! Yes, I tend to not wear a lot of make up, only
mascara, eyeshadow and lipgloss. I use Revlon, mainly becasuse at the mo I'm borrowing my mother's makeup, although in the future I plan to buy myself some nice stuff. I do try and use cruelty free; however, I find that makeup brands so rarely highlight whether it's cruelty free or not.

  2. Also just curious, you say "the new you", in what way do you think you have changed? Is if for the good or the worse? x

    1. Well, the old me wouldn't even have bothered with makeup, really. The old me actually used to think that I was too young to wear make up until I'm fourteen. But now I can see things differently, and I am happy with the choices I made to wear makeup. The Old Me probably wouldn't have started a blog, either. Sure, I did, but I thought that it'd be just a fun thing for the holidays. I never expected to get much out of this; in the beginning it was just a way to fill the time. However, this blog has done so much for me-I'm now glad that I was so bored!

  3. Hi, El! I'm probably not the best person to give advice because I don't wear very much make-up - but I'd recommend watching lots of videos & maybe ask a friend to come & show you how they apply their make-up? Don't worry if you're struggling - it's probably just practice! Good luck! Have fun at Sandy Point xx

    1. Thank you for your advice! I've watched a few tutorials, and some of them are helpful but most aren't... I just can't understand most of them! Yes, I will do that and I hope to have a lot of fun at Sandy Point. xx

  4. I just found your blog :) would recommend starting with a bb cream or tinted moisturiser. Mousse eyeshadows are also really easy to apply for when your starting out with makeup.

  5. I know all these people are saying BB cream BB cream... However, I would say go to a make-up counter and get colour matched for foundation. When you have that you can find a make-up shade converter online and you can buy a drugstore version. I dont see the point in BB creams because they dont cover anything at all. I really recommend Collection for your first make-up items. The lasting perfection range would be great until you familiarise yourself with shades and application. I made the mistake of going for a fairly expensive one and got the complete wrong shade. To apply foundation i reccomend getting a beauty blender or something of the sort. I don't know if you have a boots but they have an Eco brush range which are good brushes to start with. A foundation brush and a powder brush I'd literally all you would need to start with. Overall foundation, concealer and powder from Collection and a foundation and powder brush and a make-up sponge. Email me about the collab and of you need any more help.

    1. Hmmm, interesting. I've tried primer and loving it, however I don't think that's the same thing as BB cream if I'm correct. I have never heard of Collection before; however, I think I've seen them in store so hopefully I'll be able to find them. I definitely know that there is no boots in Australia unfortunately so I'll have to go online for that, but otherwise these tips have really helped. Thank you, and I'll email you now!
